      That’s a very good question because it’s actually very difficult to answer! Space itself is a vacuum or empty space occasionally finding itself with a particle of light passing through. It really depends on where you’re viewing from as to how dark it is. If you went to space in orbit above the Earth, the light from the sun would be blinding because you wouldn’t be protected by the earth’s atmosphere but some parts of space look completely empty.

      The blackness of space is something which has puzzled physicists for a long time. There are a lot of matter in space so it should seem brighter than it is but some of it doesn’t seem to interact with light so scientists called it “dark matter” – in this respect, I suppose space is very dark!
