      Genetic molecules are what is known as DNA – or its full name, deoxyribonucleic acid. That is quite a mouthful, so you can see why we usually just call it DNA.

      DNA is a chemical and it is present in nearly all of our cells (except red blood cells and platelets) and acts as a blueprint or an instruction manual, telling the cell how to do things.
