      Pretty much from anywhere, as long as you lose enough blood. Usually small cuts are not deadly because your body starts to patch up the site of injury, forming a scab in the process. However, there are people who have too few of the cells that do this (called platelet cells), so they continue to bleed – which is why even a small injury can cause them to a lose a lot of blood.

      Also, if you sever a major artery such as the carotid artery that carries blood to your brain, you will bleed out quite quickly as this artery carries a lot of blood.
