      Some people have disabilities which are transient (for which there might be a clear treatment) and some people have disabilities which are permanent. In medicine, we like to try and cure things which affect people’s ability to do things when we can, but we have to realise this is not always possible.

      I think the best way to look at this is to put to one side a desire to cure people and instead think what support we can offer to enable people to reach their full potential, regardless of the initial disability.
