      The people who help babies be born are called midwives or, if they are doctors, obstetricians.

      I had to deliver a few babies a student but nowadays I don’t help with the birth itself; I have to be there at birth sometimes in cases where we think the baby might need some resuscitation, for example if it’s premature or had a low heart rate before being born.
