This is a really good question. I will extend more on this. Do you think producing enough food guarantees everyone gets to eat?
To reach food to your plate, food has to go through four main stages: production – food needs to be produced
available: what if there is an earthquake or big flood and all food you produced are gone?
accessible: what if food is so expensive to buy that you cannot afford it?
nutritious: what if the food you produced is not rich in nutrients?
Therefore, producing enough does not guarantee food-security. Coming back to your question, at the moment we are producing enough food but within the next 20-30 years, the demand of food will go very high and this will require additional land or new crop varieties that are highly productive.
