      UNICEF is a charity run under the umbrella of the United Nations. They estimate there are 2.2 billion children living in the world (2,200,000,000) which is between a quarter and a third of the world population. They estimate that 1 billion of these children (about half) are living in poverty, which is a number I find absolutely shocking.
