It is believed that the solar system was created when a cloud of gas and dust in space was disturbed because of an explosion of a nearby star. This explosion squeezed the cloud of gas and dust and made them spin. With time, the cloud became more dense and hot in the center and on the edges was gas and dust. The gas and dust became clumping together and got bigger leading to formation of planets and moon while the center dense became the sun.

There is plenty to explore on this subject on the NASA website. I will highly recommend you to visit it.
