      At rest, your heart beats about 80 times a minute on average, with 60 beats on the lower end and 100 beats on the higher end of this. The number of times our hearts beat per minute decreases with age as well, so the hearts of children like you beat faster, whereas the hearts of older people like your grandparents beat slower.

      When you exercise, your heart starts beating faster, and it can reach 200 beats per minute – that’s more than three heartbeats every second!
