You will first of all be in a lot of pain. Depending on how bad the injury is, you might not be able to use that muscle for quite some time! This is because muscles can actually physically tear apart – if you’re lucky, it will be a minor tear that will heal quickly, but if you’re really overworking your muscles, it can be even worse.
This is why you should always warm up properly before starting any strenuous exercise, as you can injure yourself if you push your body too far.
