      You have nerves and blood in the very inside of your teeth, this is called the pulp. The stuff surrounding the root of your teeth is called cementum, which is similar to bone but not quite bone itself. The part of your tooth that you can see is called enamel, while the stuff inside the enamel is called dentin. Dentin is softer than the enamel, which is why cavities that have gotten past the enamel can quickly become larger, because they don’t have much resistance from dentin!
