      My favourite discovery is the Higgs Boson. Peter Higgs and his colleagues guessed it would exist in 1964 but we didn’t have the technology or computing power to be able to prove it existed until 2013.

      I was working in particle physics at the time so we knew it was going to be announced for a while. We all went in to work early that day (and my friend bought me bacon butty and a coffee because I was running late!) so we could watch the live announcement from CERN. It was such a great atmosphere and really exciting to know history was being made! We all left work early to go to the pub to celebrate!
