I started doing science because I had great role models – my parents, who both studied chemistry, and my biology teachers who always encouraged me to learn more about the world around us.

I realize that not everyone’s parents are scientists and maybe their teachers do not make them realize all the cool things they could do if they became scientists.
Humans, and society as a whole, needs scientific inventions and knowledge to progress and survive. The people doing science today will not always be able to do so, so we need people like you to continue our work. This is why I want to inspire young people to do science – so really, I just want to make sure that when I get old, someone will hopefully be working on making me live forever 😛

Science is key for us if we’re going to tackle many of societies problems (like diseases and global warming). Anyone could be the person that comes along and thinks of something amazing that no one has thought of before, but for them to be able to do that they need to know about science.

It’s also something I find fascinating and I love any excuse to chat to people about it and trying to show them why I think it’s so great!
