Simply mixing water and electricity won’t cause a fire – but it can still be dangerous to you so if you accidentally spill water on a piece of electrical equipment, you should unplug it before trying to touch it.

The reason electrical fires can happen is because water can cause the electrical goods to short circuit, creating sparks, and if these sparks are close to things that can easily be set on fire, they might get set on fire!
